Painting workshop in Mallorca, Spain
(20-28 September 2008)
This trip will provide opportunities
to paint and sketch landscapes, streetscenes, seascapes, and studio
figures in
Mallorca, Spain. Mallorca is the jewel of the Mediterranean, an
island with spectacular natural beauty and vibrant historic towns
and villages. The trip will take place in September, one of the best
times of the year to enjoy Mallorca (great weather, spectacular sunsets, etc.).
We’ll visit two different locations
each day. Our tour will bring us to the old city of Palma (Mallorca’s capital city), where we’ll have the opportunity
to sketch and paint ancient locations, like the 1000-year-old
columns of the
Banys Àrabs (Arab Baths). We’ll travel around the island,
visiting places like the
Jardines de Alfabia (Alfabia Gardens) and the villages of
Deià,
Fornalutx, and Formentor. We’ll find fantastic views of old
towns, 4500 foot mountains, and cliffs falling into the
Mediterranean Sea. We’ll also spend one half-day working indoors
with a model. Each intensive working day will be capped with
evenings dining at traditional local restaurants. As always, I’ll be
working individually with each participant and with the group as a
whole, spending the entire week with participants.
